4 DAYS FEZ TO MARRAKECH
- DAY 1: FEZ – IFRANE – MONKEY FOREST – MERZOUGA DESERT
Our journey begins in Fez, the cultural heart of Morocco, as we venture towards the captivating landscapes of the Middle Atlas mountains. Our first stop is the charming town of Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its resemblance to European alpine villages.
Continuing our exploration, we’ll pass through the scenic Cedar Forest, home to indigenous Barbary macaque monkeys. Marvel at these playful creatures as they roam freely in their natural habitat.
Next, we’ll traverse the picturesque Ziz Valley, renowned for its lush palm groves and fertile landscapes. Our journey takes us to Erfoud, known for its rich fossil beds and vibrant markets.
As the day unfolds, we’ll arrive at the gateway to the Sahara Desert, Merzouga. Here, we’ll embark on a camel ride into the heart of the mesmerizing dunes of Erg Chebbi. Arriving at our Sahara camp, we’ll be welcomed with traditional Berber tea, followed by a delicious dinner and a lively drum party under the starlit desert sky.
- DAY 2: MERZOUGA DESERT – VISIT THE NOMADS - 4X4 TOUR
Wake up to the magical sight of the sunrise over the Sahara Desert, casting a golden hue over the vast expanse of dunes. After a hearty breakfast, our desert exploration continues with a visit to the nearby town of Khamlia, known for its vibrant music scene and talented Gnawa musicians.
Embarking on a thrilling 4×4 tour, we’ll traverse the rugged terrain of the desert, following in the tracks of the famous Paris-Dakar Rally. Along the way, we’ll pause for panoramic views of the breathtaking Erg Chebbi landscape.
Our journey then leads us to encounter desert nomads, offering us a glimpse into their traditional way of life. Share a cup of tea with these hospitable locals as they share stories of their ancestral heritage and nomadic lifestyle.
As the day winds down, we’ll return to our desert camp for a free afternoon to relax and soak in the tranquility of the desert surroundings. Enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night amidst the serene beauty of the Sahara.
- DAY 3: DESERT MERZOUGA – GORGES OF TODRA – DADES VALLEYS – OUARZAZATE
Leaving the dunes behind, we’ll journey towards Tinghir to explore the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges, carved by the Todra River over centuries. Take a leisurely stroll through the picturesque Tinghir palm grove, marveling at the lush greenery contrasting against the rugged canyon walls.
Continuing our adventure, we’ll pause at the Todra Gorges for a rest and a delicious meal before proceeding to the Valley of Roses, renowned for its fragrant rose gardens and traditional distilleries. Visit the charming Berber village of Boutghrart for tea with a local family, gaining insight into their daily lives and customs.
Following the Thousand Kasbahs route, we’ll marvel at ancient kasbahs, nomadic cave dwellings, and stunning landscapes before reaching Skoura. Explore the historic Amredil Kasbah before continuing to Ouarzazate, where we’ll enjoy dinner and accommodation in the city.
- DAY 4: OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – TELOUET – MARRAKECH
Our final day begins with a visit to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a renowned filming location for blockbuster movies. Explore the labyrinthine streets of this ancient fortress, soaking in its rich history and architectural marvels.
Next, we’ll journey to the majestic Telouet Kasbah, once a grand palace of the Glaoui family, offering insights into Morocco’s illustrious past. As the afternoon approaches, we’ll traverse the scenic Tizi N Tichka pass, crossing the High Atlas mountains with its breathtaking vistas.
Arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon, we’ll conclude our desert adventure, bidding farewell to the enchanting landscapes and cultural treasures of Morocco. Drop-off will be arranged at your accommodation or any preferred location, marking the end of an unforgettable journey through the Sahara Desert.
